{"id":478,"date":"2011-11-14T19:38:05","date_gmt":"2011-11-14T16:38:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/formbureau.co.uk\/?p=478"},"modified":"2018-05-11T15:31:04","modified_gmt":"2018-05-11T12:31:04","slug":"brodovitch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/formbureau.co.uk\/en\/projects\/brodovitch\/","title":{"rendered":"Brodovitch: From Diaghilev to Harper\u2019s Bazaar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p> <div class=\"description\"> <p>The exhibition \u2018 Brodovich: from Dyagilev to&nbsp;Harper\u2019s&nbsp;Bazaar\u2019 was organized by&nbsp;Harper\u2019s&nbsp;Bazaar magazine and the Garage Centre for Contemporary Culture.<br \/> Alexey Brodovich (1898&nbsp;&mdash; 1971) was a&nbsp;pioneer in&nbsp;graphic design, the man who created the prototype of&nbsp;today\u2019s&nbsp;glossy fashion magazine. During the early 1930s Brodovich began to&nbsp;revolutionize the world of&nbsp;periodicals, combining images with text in&nbsp;Harper\u2019s&nbsp;Bazaar columns. Brodovich became one of&nbsp;the founders of&nbsp;advertizing and fashion photography, teacher to&nbsp;photographers such as&nbsp;Irving Penn and Richard Avedon. The exhibition will present covers of&nbsp;Harper\u2019s&nbsp;Bazaar and examples of&nbsp;experiments with graphics, which Brodovich would perform on&nbsp;the magazine\u2019s&nbsp;pages; the series of&nbsp;photographs \u2018Ballet\u2019, which captured the touring Russian Ballet <nobr>Monte-Carlo<\/nobr> in&nbsp;New York, as&nbsp;well as&nbsp;American ballet performances during the 1930s; portraits of&nbsp;Brodovich by&nbsp;Avedon, Cartier Bresson, Newman, as&nbsp;well as&nbsp;personal letters, photo and video documentation, lectures and interviews which reflected
