School theatre

For the gut renovation of a typological soviet school theatre the task was to maximise the potential of the room and improve the seating arrangement.

An amphitheatre was added for more comfortable viewing,  existing ceiling tiles were removed to reveal brutalist beams which were emphasised with strip lighting.

The strictly black design of the stage is contrasted with a vibrant pattern of custom linoleum cladding on the surrounding walls. Spots of brighter colour are concentrated on the back wall and gradually fade out into greys towards the stage.
